7 MYTHEN ZUM THEMA SONNENSCHUTZ

1. SHADE IS THE BEST PROTECTION

Think again! Even in the shade there is a risk of sunburn. 60 to 80 percent of UVA and UVB rays reach you even when you are lying under a sunshade. So in summer, always apply sunscreen and think of protective clothing - even in the shade!

2. MY SKIN GETS USED TO THE SUN

Yes, but no! If you think that you have built up an invisible protective shield after a few days in the sun, you are wrong. Yes, your skin produces a so-called light callus, a natural thickening of the cornea, during the first two to three weeks in the sun. But this only achieves a sun protection factor of 5 at most. So always continue to apply sunscreen carefully!

3. APPLYING SUNCREAM ONCE AT NOON IS ENOUGH

Such behaviour is a lottery game with your own health. Yes, between 12 and 3 p.m. the sunrays fall almost vertically on the skin and therefore have the strongest effect. But also before and after that, you have to apply sunscreen - because even less sun power needs to be blocked. Especially if there are also mirror effects caused by water, light-colored sand or, in winter, snow.

4. A HIGH SUN PROTECTION FACTOR PREVENTS TANNING

This is one of the most stupid prejudices of unreasonable sun worshippers. Because the calculation is quite different: With a high sun protection factor as with GYMPER SunProtect 50+ you get a tan a little slower, but much healthier, more lasting and without pain. Let's compare it like this: You can jump from the 2nd floor to get to the street - but it's better to take the stairs ☺.

5. I DON'T NEED SUNSCREEN IN THE CAR

The glazing of your car protects you against UVB rays, but not against the UVA components of the sunlight. Any trucker can tell you that. That's why the tough women and men in their 40-ton trucks hardly ever drive through the bright summer without sunscreen or long-sleeved clothing!

6. TATTOOED SKIN NEEDS SPECIAL PROTECTION

No! A special product is not necessary, but tattoos should always be particularly protected. Especially when it is still fresh, but also older tattoos can react more violently to UV radiation than normal skin. We recommend especially for large-area body tattoos the best protection possible.

7. A SUNBURN BECOMES A SUNTAN

Nonsense! A sunburn damages the skin, hurts or even itches like crazy. And when the skin flakes, everything underneath is white again. So a sunburn is good for nothing - except as a bad vacation memory!
